Ebola: Containment In Senegal and Nigeria

It is heartwarming to know through the World Health Organization(WHO) that Senegal and Nigeria have contained the Ebola Virus Disease(EVD). The concerted efforts of both the States and Federal government in Nigeria are highly commendable.

Senegal recorded its one and only case on August 29, 2014. The patient has since recovered.

In Nigeria, the first case of Ebola outbreak was announced on July 26, 2014. Twenty one people have since been infected, eight died while thirteen survived. It took a little above two months for Nigeria to have, apparently, contained the disease. It is important that Nigeria should sustain the present level of campaign which has resulted in the containment. Furthermore, Nigeria should extend helping hands in whatever form to other countries still battling with the scourge. It should be clear to everyone to know that no West Africa country, and indeed any country in the World, is free until all is free.
